Diversity in the Workplace, an inseparable part of Equality Works… and we are moving forward together
«Diversity in the Workplace» was initiated in 2017 and implemented with the support of International Rescue Committee until February 2020. Today, three years later, it is an integral part of the new program «Equal Work and Education for All– Equality Works» of the organisation Generation 2.0 for Rights, Equality & Diversity. The program is offering support and actions for an equal access to the labor market and education, through a variety of activities for a direct empowerment of populations with immigrant or refugee background, who are seeking job positions or to continue their educational path.
By providing Greek lessons, career counselling sessions, labor rights seminars, training on Women’s Social Entrepreneurship, and mentoring for minors willing to continue their studies, Equality Works is aiming to prepare the participants for an inclusive access to the Greek labor market and educational system’s reality and culture. Stepping forward, and through our extensive experience in Livelihoods, we are observing the need of the private sector to get prepared as well in order to include “Diversity” equally.
“Diversity in the Workplace”, in a direct collaboration with our supporters and the labor market, has developed innovative actions which are aiming at supporting the private sector in Greece in terms of Corporate Sustainability and Equal access to employment, according to the European standards. More and more companies and organisations support our actions and, by signing the Diversity Charter, they enter the Network of “Diversity in the Workplace”.
Upon entering the Network, our supporters receive training and train others, they stay updated and active, they are open to new opportunities and innovate, they seek for employees through Generation 2.0 RED’s Career Counselling service, they reevaluate their recruitment procedure and adapt their job adverts accordingly, they promote diversity among their employees and offer them equal opportunities to act and evolve in a modern inclusive workplace. Our “Diversity in the Workplace” team, is constantly creating new practices and responding to the ever-changing needs, since we observe that a modern work environment is the one that reflects the composition of the society in which it operates.
Since we are now stepping into the new program, we would like to sincerely thank and inform all the companies and the organisations that signed the Diversity Charter and have been collaborating with us until this day that we are moving forward with the new support and greater motivation to bring a sustainable change and to participate in an equal and inclusive Greek labor market.
