STEPS has just entered the Worldplaces Network!

We welcome STEPS to the Network “Worldplaces-Workplaces Working with Migrant Women“. Steps is a non-profit initiative that deals with street connected people who experience social exclusion.

Ms. Anastasia Kiritsopoulou, Project Manager at the non-profit organisation STEPS, answers our questions on Diversity and Inclusion in the workplace.

  • Why is the promotion of inclusion in the workplace important for you and your organisation?

An environment that promotes diversity, equality and mutual respect is essential if we are to remain consistent with our values and provide meaningful support. We come into daily contact with people experiencing social exclusion, and our action is focused on strengthening their efforts towards gaining autonomy, which cannot be achieved unless we emphasise the importance of inclusion within our organisation.

  • Does your organisation follow inclusion practices?

The action of the STEPS organisation as a whole and through its individual projects is based on the value of inclusion and is addressed to people experiencing social exclusion. All those who act responsibly, based on acceptance and can strengthen our efforts to invest in trusting relationships, are welcome to join our team.

  • What motivated you to join the Worldplaces?

The objective of our participation in the training of the project “Worldplaces-Workplaces: working with Migrant Women” is not only limited to the application of the practices we will come in contact with internally, but it helps us to be more prepared to deal with issues that migrant women carry. With proper training, we can better understand the problems they face in the workplace or in trying to integrate into a new work environment, and offer them appropriate support.

This project is implemented by the Employability Service of Generation 2.0 for Rights, Equality & Diversity and aims to support companies and organisations in the process of inclusion of women of migrant background in the workplace.
